Free, Bollore in talks with Google over WiMax: paper

French Internet service provider Free and Bollore Telecom are in talks with Web search giant Google Inc over the funding of their WiMax wireless broadband network in France, French daily Les Echos reports.

A spokesman for Iliad, the parent of Free, denied the report while the Bollore group could not be immediately reached for comment.

Apple Inc has said the new iPhone will go on sale July 11 at $199 for the model with 8 gigabytes of storage and $299 for the 16-gigabyte version. These prices apply to customers signing up for a two-year AT&T contract.

InBev NV (INTB.BR: Quote, Profile, Research) stuck to its original $46.3 billion takeover bid for reluctant target Anheuser-Busch Cos Inc (BUD.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and said it would give Anheuser’s shareholders a voice in the battle if the U.S. brewer refused to open merger discussions.

InBev, the world’s second-largest brewer by volume, held to its offer of $65 per share in cash, saying it represented the full and fair value for Anheuser-Busch despite the weak stock markets. InBev reiterated it would pursue all options, but stopped short of launching a hostile takeover bid.

Dawoud Ameen, a former Iraqi soldier, lay in bed, his shattered legs splayed before him, worrying about the rent for his family of five.

Mr. Ameenâ€™s legs were shredded by shrapnel from a roadside bomb in September 2006 and now, like many wounded members of the Iraqi security forces, he is deeply in debt and struggling to survive. For now, he gets by on $125 a month brought to him by members of his old army unit, charity and whatever his wife, Jinan, can beg from her relatives. But he worries that he could lose even that meager monthly stipend.

In the United States, the issue of war injuries has revolved almost entirely around the care received by the 30,000 wounded American veterans. But Iraqi soldiers and police officers have been wounded in greater numbers, health workers say, and have been treated far worse by their government.

“I will never question the patriotism of others in this campaign,” Mr. Obama said, speaking over the applause of several hundred supporters. “And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”

In the hometown of Harry S. Truman, not far from his presidential library, Mr. Obama delivered a speech entitled, “The America We Love.” It is part of an ongoing effort by his campaign to introduce himself – and correct any misimpressions about his background – to the nation.
